Soy candles are safer for you and your pet. Compared to paraffin wax, soy wax does not have harmful ingredients such as petroleum, a nonrenewable source that contains carcinogenic substances and does not produce a “clean” burn. Soy candles are made from soybeans, a natural, renewable source grown in many regions by local farmers. A candle made from soy wax burns cleaner with little soot released as the candle burns. The soy candle may accumulate some black soot on the jar, but the amount is much less than paraffin candles. Soy candles are also non-toxic, so they won’t release toxins into the air as they burn.
Derived from the soybean, soy wax is a hydrogenated vegetable oil that turns to a solid at room temperature. After they are harvested, the beans are cleaned, cracked, dehulled, and rolled into flakes. Soy wax contains nothing artificial, which makes it a better alternative to old-fashioned paraffin wax, which is made from petroleum oil and produces harmful by-products when burned or melted. Soy wax is non-toxic making it better both for the environment and your health!
Fragrance oils do not contain Dibutyl Phthalate. IFRA forbids it. What is IFRA? “The International Fragrance Association (IFRA), based in Geneva, Switzerland, and founded in 1973, is the official self-regulatory representative body of the fragrance industry worldwide. Its main purpose is to ensure the safety of fragrance materials through a dedicated science program.”
Cleaner burning. No toxins, carcinogens or pollutants which means our candles are less likely to trigger allergies. And no petro-carbon soot like you get from petroleum-based paraffin candles.
Longer lasting. Soy wax burns cooler which means that you can enjoy your soy wax candle for generally 30-50% longer than a paraffin candle.
Biodegradable and water-soluble. Since our candles are made out of soybeans, they are naturally biodegradable which makes accidental spills easier to clean with just hot water, soap and some elbow grease.
No lead or zinc cored wicks are used.
Make sure to trim it to ⅛” to keep your candle burning evenly. Keeping your wick at the correct length can also help to prevent the buildup of residue around the candle. Snuffing the candle out using the lid may produce a crackled top when solidified but should not be a problem when lit again.
