You can use a dash of salt if you prefer. I chose not to use salt. I topped with green and gold sprinkles to match my mug and to make it festive. I added whipped cream and miniature marshmallows. Other toppings could be white chocolate chips, 1/8 or 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract, or a splash of Hazelnut extract in place of or in combination with the pure vanilla extract. Add shavings of milk, dark, or white chocolate on top
