Equipment

  • Small pot
  • Spoons
  • Candy sticks
  • Candy bags
  • Bowls
  • Parchment paper

Ingredients

  • 11 oz bag of Kraft chocolates, squares
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 5 Honeycrisp apples
  • 12 oz milk chocolates
  • 1 1/2 cup white chocolate
  • 1 cup chopped Snickers
  • 1 cup pecans
  • 1 cup chopped double stuff Oreos
  • 1 cup small M & Ms

Instructions

  • Wash and dry 5 Honeycrisp apples (we bought both large and small/medium sized apples). Place apples on parchment or wax paperPush stick down through the middle of apple leaving enough stick to be able to hold on to the apple
  • Unwrap 11 oz bag of caramels. Take off heat. Swirl apple into the caramel and spoon caramel around the apple covering the whole apple.
  • Add caramels and 2 tablespoons of water to pan. Melt in a pan on low to medium heat (start melting on low, turn up to low/medium until caramel is almost melted and then turn back down to low). Keep stirring and make sure the caramel does not stick to the pan or burn
  • Make sure you don’t get any caramel or chocolate on the stick. Sit on parchment paper for 5 to 10 minutes. Caramel will smooth out as it cools
  • Use Wilton Chocolates.  We used milk chocolate and white chocolate.  We used chunks of Snickers, caramels, M&M’s, chopped pecans, double stuffed Oreos, and colored sugar crystals to top the apples.
  • We bought a 36 oz bag of milk chocolate but used approximately 12 oz to melt and cover the large Honeycrisp apples.
  • When caramel is smooth, start dipping your apple into the chocolateMelt chocolate in microwave on 30 second intervals stirring in between until melted.
  • Be careful not to burn chocolate.  If you do, you won’t be able to use it and will have to throw it away. We used approximately 1 1/2 cup of white chocolate to cover the small/medium size apple and for drizzling over the toppings
