Wash and dry 5 Honeycrisp apples (we bought both large and small/medium sized apples). Place apples on parchment or wax paperPush stick down through the middle of apple leaving enough stick to be able to hold on to the apple
Unwrap 11 oz bag of caramels. Take off heat. Swirl apple into the caramel and spoon caramel around the apple covering the whole apple.
Add caramels and 2 tablespoons of water to pan. Melt in a pan on low to medium heat (start melting on low, turn up to low/medium until caramel is almost melted and then turn back down to low). Keep stirring and make sure the caramel does not stick to the pan or burn
Make sure you don’t get any caramel or chocolate on the stick. Sit on parchment paper for 5 to 10 minutes. Caramel will smooth out as it cools
Use Wilton Chocolates. We used milk chocolate and white chocolate. We used chunks of Snickers, caramels, M&M’s, chopped pecans, double stuffed Oreos, and colored sugar crystals to top the apples.
We bought a 36 oz bag of milk chocolate but used approximately 12 oz to melt and cover the large Honeycrisp apples.
When caramel is smooth, start dipping your apple into the chocolateMelt chocolate in microwave on 30 second intervals stirring in between until melted.
Be careful not to burn chocolate. If you do, you won’t be able to use it and will have to throw it away. We used approximately 1 1/2 cup of white chocolate to cover the small/medium size apple and for drizzling over the toppings
