Candle Making At Yankee Candle
I’ve been saying for a very long time that I want to learn how to make candles and well…I finally did it! Woo hoo! The Mall at Robinson in Robinson, PA has a Yankee Candle store set up where you can go to, choose your favorite scent or scents and make your own custom candle. I’ve had this action item on my bucket list for a long time and now have created a Chocolate, Whipped Cream, Caramel candle called “Maggie Rose Jake Thomas” that Thomas and I are going to burn Friday night. Why Friday night you ask? We are kicking off Thomas’ vacation effective 5:00 on Friday until the beginning of the new year! Wine, dinner, and a candle…so fun!
With the end of the year fast approaching, what resolutions will you be making? What have you accomplished this year? What is on your bucket list? This year has been a great year for us and I have so much I want to do in 2020. That is for another post but I wanted to get you all thinking of the blessings in your life!
I first want to thank Karen, Assistant Manager, who helped walk me through the step-by-step process to create my delicious smelling candle. She, along with her manager, Kathleen, have the store looking beautiful, festive, and spotless. I told Karen that I loved sweet smelling candles and she helped me create a smooth velvety sweet scent with a 55 hour burning time!
On to the details and the pictures! Hope you enjoy this post!
Friendly greeting at Yankee Candle
When you first walk into the store, you are greeted with a friendly smile and a warm welcome. I asked about making my own candle and was directed to the Blending Bar area, given a form and was instructed to walk around and write down my favorite scent(s). Kathy politely guided me and made some suggestions that sounded delicious and I immediately said yes, let’s do it! Thank goodness she patiently helped me because there are over 50+ fragrance oils to create your signature scent!
2 Very important tools instrumental in making my candle
This is a metal cup to hold the oils and a spoon to stir your “recipe” which is the number of drops I used per scent and the spoon to stir them together. Kathy explained that the spoon then gets wiped off so you don’t drip the oil all over you and can smell how strong the candle will be. This will determine if you want more or less of a certain scent.
Choose your color
You get to pick the color of the glass candle holder you want and I chose the amber color.
Time to name my candle!
I chose to name my candle Maggie Rose Jake Thomas :-).
Wick was set!
The wick is already placed in the glass for you but before I could say I was done, I had to make sure my candle was stirred well. You will know the oils have mixed well when you can’t see the bottom of the wick and the bottom of the glass.
Perfectly Mine
Love this saying on their wall. It caught my eye! Sorry I couldn’t fit the whole saying in the picture. As I said before my favorite color is “red” but guess what my other favorite color is…”black”!! I thought this was a perfect saying for a perfect store! And you can never go wrong using black and white together.
Ready to burn!
Isn’t this a romantic picture! Perfect spot for a Yankee Candle!
This was a great experience and a fun activity while the pups were at their grooming appointment. This is also a perfect place to buy someone a special gift. You can craft your own signature candle fragrance at their Blending Bar or personalize one of Yankee Candles scents with your own photo or message. Walk-ins welcome or you can schedule a group event such as a girls night out, work team building event, or a date night with your husband…hint, hint Thomas :-).
For a personalized photo label, add your own photo and message to a candle for a special gift or keepsake, Another really neat option is to add video photo labels. Scan the label with your phone to watch. Or choose an expression label from over 20 designs, then write exactly what you want to say. All of these options are $5.00 more per option.
Check out or call Yankee Candle at The Mall at Robinson. I have had the privilege of meeting Kathy and Kathleen and everyone that I have spoken to on the phone has been incredibly helpful, professional, and sweet! I know I’ll be back and hope to get to meet them all in person.
