Deer And Berries Christmas Table

Dec 7, 2022 | Christmas, Maggie Lane Designs, Tablescapes

Happy Thursday everyone!  It’s day 8 into The 24 Days Before Christmas and I’m so excited to show off my Deer And Berries Christmas Table!  I’m hosting a few parties this month plus Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and this table will be on display for each event.  I hope you enjoy the photos and videos of this table.  Pictures and videos were taken at different times of the day so you will see light fluctuations in the photos.  My Christmas Day table is coming soon!

How to find the perfect dinnerware for your table:

I hit the 60% off sale at Hobby Lobby and found these adorable Robert Stanley deer and berry dishes.  Pattern labeled as Holly and Pinecones.  They are sold out on-line but they do have some in stock at the store in Robinson, PA.  I found these on Amazon which would look great on a table with a woodland theme should you want a similar pattern.  I knew I already had a tablecloth from Home and Gardens that I bought a few years ago at Walmart.  I also had all of the table accessories except for these beautiful green votive candle holders and ceramic houses I bought this year at Walmart (similar HERE).  I was just there today and they still have them in stock!  The accent trays match the tablecloth both made by Home and Gardens and bought at Walmart.

Methods to create a beautiful table:

The method to my madness on this table was too create a setting as it would be in the wild with deer, pine cones, Christmas trees, berries, greenery, and houses sitting in the wilderness. These ceramic houses have a candle holder lip and all I did was take the tags off and place a battery lighted candle inside.

When I think about tablescapes, I envision something real life and what came to mind when I saw these dishes were my small pine trees, red poinsettias, berry sticks, and both my greenery and pine cone swags purchased a few years ago at TJMaxx that I intertwined together.  The green placemats bought at Kirklands a few years ago add a nice touch and compliment the table theme well.  Kirklands has a great selection of Christmas and table decor this year that would go perfectly with this tablescape.

What accent colors to use to compliment these dishes:

I chose to go with green and gold as my accent colors and used glasses, silverware, charger plates, and large green votive candle holders to pull out those colors.

Not only did I find these fabulous dishes at Hobby Lobby, I also found these gorgeous napkin ring holders that add sparkle to the table (similar HERE).  My mother gave me the green cloth napkins which was the icing on the cake.

There are so many colors that can go with this table.  I love working with color and color combinations.  You could use wine, red, berry, chartreuse, hunter green, emerald green, blue/green, gold, silver, tan, brown, cream, rust, shades of grey, and white to create different looks.  You could also pull out the birds from the tablecloth and incorporate cardinals on your table.  Another option would be to incorporate more wood pieces into the centerpiece such as the wooden pine trees at Walmart this year!

I hope you enjoyed the table.  My Christmas table is coming soon along with other holiday posts.  I will be posting another “how to” video this week on creating a bow using two different types of ribbon.  I also want to let you in on a little secret…as many tables as I have done, I never knew what to do with the small accent plates that you see on this table.  Do you know what they are used for?  Dinner rolls!  They are used for dinner rolls!  It all makes sense now :-).  Next year I’ll be on the hunt for matching salt and pepper shakers and a butter dish!  They also had matching bowls but they are now out of stock on-line.  Hopefully this pattern comes back next year or something close to it.  Enjoy!
