Dog Friendly Pennsylvania

Nov 11, 2025 | Life, Travel

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  We have been traveling a lot lately with Maggie, and she has enjoyed so many wonderful experiences.  We kicked off our vacation with a trip to Cranberry, PA, to watch our godson and his sister play their volleyball games.  After Jake passed away, Maggie was so lonely, so we planned a vacation and took her with us.  She loved being around all the kids and received a lot of attention.  From there, we spent time in York, Lititz, Bird-in-Hand, Hershey, Intercourse, Philadelphia, King Of Prussia, and Gettysburg, PA.  We even spent time in Hocking Hills, WV, but that will be for another blog.  We are home after being gone for almost two weeks.  If you are looking for dog-friendly activities in Pennsylvania or even a quaint little town to visit during the fall season, read below for more information!

York, PA

We stayed at the dog-friendly Yorketown Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, which was so beautiful.  I also liked that they had green areas and dog stations located in well-lit areas in front of the hotel.  We picked York because it was centrally located to all that we wanted to see.  We upgraded to a beautiful room.  The hotel staff was so friendly.  Maggie loved being at the hotel and enjoyed dinner with us in the hotel bar.  The food was delicious and we loved staying at the Yorketown.  If you are interested in historic properties, definitely check this one out!

Lititz, PA

We drove into Lititz, PA, for a day and enjoyed walking around the quaint little town.  Our first stop was at the Tomato Pie Cafe to grab a coffee, and then we headed to the park so Maggie could enjoy watching the ducks.  We walked around town, shopped, and had fish and chips at the Bulls Head Pub (so delicious), where we sat outside to eat and people-watch.  Maggie got lots of pets, and she relaxed in the sun.  This pub is attached to the Lititz Spring Inn, which is dog-friendly.  Some stores are dog-friendly, but you have to ask, like Cherry Acres.

Bird-In-Hand, Intercourse, Hershey, Buck's County PA

We took a day and toured a few areas.  It is something we like to do… get in the car and go.  We call it “uncharted territory” and always seem to find the best places.  Maggie loves it.  She sleeps, and when it’s time to get out, her tail is wagging, so excited to see what’s ahead.

Bird-In-Hand is a cute town with shops, but it’s not dog-friendly.  Hershey is not very dog-friendly, except for the Pennsylvania State Police Museum, which we did not visit. There would have been more to do for us if we hadn’t had Maggie.  Peddler’s Village in Bucks County, PA, and Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse, PA, were charming, featuring village settings with stone walkways and offering a variety of restaurants and shops to visit…very charming and perfect for a fall day.

Valley Forge, King Of Prussia

Valley Forge was so beautiful.  We took a peaceful drive through the park and stopped to take pictures of some of the most beautiful monuments.  The sun was shining, but it was a chilly day.   Maggie loved smelling the fresh air, and she met other dogs just like her.  We were only in town for one night and stayed at the dog-friendly Homewood Suites by Hilton Horsham, and I loved it.  The rooms were so clean and beautifully decorated.  We had everything we needed and slept soundly.

Gettysburg, PA

If you are looking for a place rich in history, visit Gettysburg.  We loved being able to tour the area with Maggie.  Although it was cold (October/November), we enjoyed it.

We were thrilled to learn that the Gettysburg Heritage Center allows dogs, and what a great place!  The three of us really enjoyed it.  I thought it was done so well and was very educational.  We had lunch at the dog-friendly Appalachian Brewing Company.  We visited the various battlefields and attempted to enter the Gettysburg National Cemetery, but a large sign stated, “No dogs allowed.”

Even though it was cold, we got ice cream at Mr. G’s because it’s the best ice cream EVER!  Then we went to our dog-friendly hotel, the 1863 Inn of Gettysburg, and turned up the heat in our room to warm up.  This was formerly a Holiday Inn and is more like a motel except for the first floor.  It’s centrally located within walking distance to shops and to Mr. G’s and the Farnsworth.  Both allow dogs on their patios.

Can you find something spooky in this photo?

I took several photos of this sunset over one of the battlefields.  But only one showed something different.  Can you see it?  Let me know in the comments.  I will reveal the answer in next week’s blog.

Historic Round Barn

During one of our “uncharted territory” days, we found The Historic Round Barn and Farm Market and stopped.  What a cool place to visit.  Although only service dogs are allowed in the barn, they made an exception for Maggie.  It was a slow day for them, and we enjoyed a leisurely walk buying jams, jellies, and cinnamon apple breads!

Note: The WWII American Experience is dog-friendly, but when we visited the museum, we were informed that the person ahead of us was allergic to dogs and had already entered the museum.  As a result, we would have to wait in the main reception area until she finished her tour.  They asked us to step aside and would let us know when she left.  We waited, and then decided to go because we had no idea how long that would take her.

Another place to visit is the Gettysburg Museum and Visitors Center.  It’s very educational, but Mr. TAL had to sit outside with Maggie because they do not allow dogs.

I hope you enjoyed our Pennsylvania tour with Maggie.  Sometimes it’s fun to have half a plan and then figure out the rest as you go.  I took so many photos and will try to share them along the way.  Remember, some establishments allow dogs but do not display a sign on their door indicating this.  It doesn’t hurt to ask.

We attached Maggie’s collapsible bowl and poop bags to her harness, added a tracker to her collar, and took some water with us. Off we went.  Don’t forget to ask the front desk if they have a list of dog-friendly activities and dining options for you and your pet.  I always make sure to give Maggie a break when I think she needs it.  We map the area before getting out of the car to locate benches, covered areas, etc if we need it.

Two Adorable Labs has become a collection of all that I love.  I’ll send one post each week on things that bring me joy on animal health, home decor, and food recipes for humans and our furry friends.  I hope you enjoy these posts and much as I do creating them!
