Marine Veteran Adopts Dog Who Saved His Life
It amazes me how things happen sometimes! Thomas and I spent most of today finishing up our yard work and all the while I was thinking of what to blog about for Wednesday’s post. With all of the devastation in the world right now, I wanted to talk about something uplifting. We finished our last truck load of mulch, took our showers, and sat down for dinner when I opened up my emails and saw an email from a friend saying….thought you would like this! And I loved it. Getting this email from my friend was perfect timing.
I was once told that animals are stupid and have no feelings which I strongly disagreed and this story just goes to show how amazing animals are.
Play time before work time!

Now Blue is a semifinalist in the 2020 American Humane Hero Dog Awards.
The American Humane Hero Dog Awards® is an annual, nationwide competition that recognizes the heroes on both ends of the leash. The category finalists will be honored on the nationwide broadcast on Hallmark Channel this October. Seven courageous canines will be featured, and only one dog will be awarded the 2020 American Hero Dog title.
A black Labrador retriever named Blue has saved Byung “BK” Kang’s life so many times, he’s lost count.
The two served on more than 300 combat missions while serving together in the United States Marine Corps on a deployment to Afghanistan from 2011-2012. Blue, a military dog trained to detect bombs called improvised explosive devices, was so good at her job that she found one on their very first mission.

Because of Blue’s dedication and lives saved, Kang made a promise he would adopt him. Overwhelmed with gratitude to Blue for repeatedly saving his life and the lives of his fellow soldiers, one night in Afghanistan, Kang made a promise to the dog and that he did.
