My Top Four Vacuums For Pet Hair

Happy Monday everyone! I’ve been wanting to put this post together for a while now. I have a vacuum on each level of my house specifically rated for having pets and for hardwood and carpet. I’ve purchased a Hoover, Oreck, and Dyson and love all three but the Dyson is my favorite. I also have a small handheld that I bought at Walmart made by Black and Decker that I use on our steps that I love. Here are the manufacturer details and my personal opinions on all four. When looking for a sweeper, I want a machine that picks up dog hair, has a long cord, is lightweight, and has a canister instead of a bag. I find that the bags start to stink after a while no matter how many times you change them. I read the comments and reviews, do research on the pros and cons, and look at how many attachments come with the sweeper. I also want to make sure they are rated and made for households that own pets.

As you can see from the pictures, this is what it’s like vacuuming at my house! LOL! Yes, this is Jake and he is helping me vacuum :-). I have a vacuum for each level and they follow me to each floor and to each room.

My Personal Review: I LOVE the vacuum. We bought this vacuum during the Amazon sale this year as one of our Christmas presents to each other. Yes, I wanted a vacuum as a Christmas present :-). We have a wool area rug in the middle of our living room and the this vacuum literally pulled on every hair in the rug I think. It has incredible suction. I tried all of the attachments and they work well and are easy to clean by running the pieces under warm water. Make sure to air dry them and that they are thoroughly dry before using again. It is important to take a few minutes to log onto to Dyson’s website and register your Dyson should something go wrong with your model. The process is quick and simple by logging in your name and serial number. The con is that it is heavy and at first awkward to use with the ball navigation turning. I would not purchase this if I had to lug it up and down steps as it is heavy. This will remain on my main level only.

My Personal Review: I love this sweeper because it is lightweight, sweeps over area rugs, doorway rugs without getting them bunched up under the sweeper, and under the living room couches perfectly. I also keep one in the garage as well. I sweep up the garage using a broom and then go over the garage with this Oreck. I buy the replacement bags on Amazon and add a few drops of lemon oil for a fresh scent. I’ve also added baking soda and Johnson and Johnson baby powder for a homemade room deodorizer. (But be careful at how much you add as to much can clog your bag) Although this sweeper is light and easier on my back, neck, and arms. The con is that it does not have the suction power for getting dog hair up like the Dyson does.

My Personal Review: This is a great sweeper for what I use it for. I use it on carpet, tile, and hardwood. I like that it can adjust to all three types of flooring and I can easily dump and clean the canister. It has great suction power for getting labrador hair up from carpet and hardwood floors. I would highly recommend this sweeper. The cons would be that this sweeper is heavy. I keep one on the upper floor and lower floor so that I do not have to lug it up and down the stairs.

My Personal Review: I personally love this little vacuum for doing the steps in our house and using to clean the console and hard to reach places in our vehicles. I bought this vacuum years ago at Walmart for $50.00 and keep one plugged in on the side of our couch in the living room and one in my walk-in-closet. If you need something picked up fast, just grab this little gadget and you are good to go! It comes with 3 easy to use attachments and although I’m not wild about attachments, these are not awkward to use at all. It is easy to clean, easy to empty, and easy to store. I don’t see any cons at all. I found mine at Walmart but they have them on Amazon as well.

Happy Monday to you too. I love my Dyson and it’s a must with lab hair! I had a Shark upstairs so like you I didn’t have to drag the vacuum up and down the stairs. It broke around Christmas and I still haven’t replaced it. I am dragging again! Thanks for the tip. I was waiting for a sale before I buy.

  Happy Monday Sharon!! Sorry to hear your Shark vacuum broke! I’ve heard those are good as well. We always wait for the sales. Try looking on Amazon and if you have an account, you can use your points towards your purchase. Yes, lugging those sweepers is no fun. And wherever you buy, ask about registering because if it does break, they will fix it for you like Dyson does!
