Skulls And Spiders Table

Sep 18, 2022 | Maggie Lane Designs, Tablescapes

Happy Monday everyone!  Today on the blog is my Skulls And Spiders Table which was so fun to put together.  In previous years, I wanted happy and pumpkins.  This year I wanted dramatic and dark so off I went in search of skulls, skeletons, graves, and spiders.  Where did I find it all, you ask?  I was able to find almost everything at Big Lots (they are running a 20% off on all their fall stuff until 9/23).  I made pit stops at Home Goods, Walmart, Dollar General, and Hobby Lobby to complete my black, white, and turquoise skull and spider themed table.
(Check out my videos of the table below)

Table Decor from Big Lots

Fabric Tablecloth (Dark Enchantment) – 60 inch round – $14.00
2 LED Candlesticks (Dark Enchantment) – $12.00 each
LED Skull with flower (Dark Enchantment) – $12.00
4 Arsenic mugs – $4.99 each
Candy bowl – $5.99

Hobby Lobby

2 Black roses – $11.99 each (on sale now for $6.49)
3 bead stems – $1.69 each
3 feather stems – $2.99 each

Table Decor from Home Goods

Salt and Pepper Shakers (CORE Kitchen) – $3.99
4 Dinner plates (Eaton Fine Dining) – $19.99
4 appetizer plates (Eaton Fine Dining) – $9.99
1 glass vase – $7.99

*You will notice my dishes do not match but I think that is ok.  I can always search for dishes that do match later which gives me another opportunity to create a new table.  I like the little pop of orange in the dinner plate plus they look a bit whimsical which I think is fun.  My silverware came from Walmart years ago.  I also think charger plates would have looked great on this table.

Walmart

Snake Oil decor – $3.98 off the shelf
Witch Brew decor – (similar) – I paid $3.98 for mine off the shelf

Dollar General

4 black wine glasses – $1.00 each
1 pack paper napkins – $1.00
2 spiders – 1.00 each

Last year I put together my Skulls table and when I found these dinner and appetizer plates this year I knew I could mix and match to create another table.  Now I’m in search of matching salad plates and bowls and will have a complete set.  I love this color scheme and can see different colors such as a deep burgundy, cream, silver, and gold that can be used to create a fun theme for your fall and Halloween table.  Off set your table with gold and silver sparkle.  To save money, buy pumpkins and skulls at the dollar store and spray paint them in any color you like that can be added to your fall decor and wreaths!

I purchased buffalo check dishes a while back from Kirklands which would look great with these dishes!  I also have plain white dishes that can be combined with these dinner plates as well.  Gold or silver salad bowls would look great with this table just to give you more ideas.

As for the centerpiece, I added two bushels of black flowers by curling up the stems and placing them inside the bowl.  Then I added the turquoise beads and feathers for color.  Roses are my favorite flower and black is my favorite color so you bet I love this look.  Another way to use these black roses, beads, and feathers is to tie them around a cloth or paper napkin with a black satin string.  I might just do this next time!!

I think it would be so fun to have a late night dinner party with the lights low, candles burning on the table and around the room to show off this fun and spook table!  Create some fun appetizers and spooky Halloween drinks for your guests.  Maybe even tell some ghost stories :-).

I hope you enjoyed my table.  Everything is still available at the Dollar General, Walmart, Hobby Lobby (running 40% off right now) and Big Lots but items are always changing at Home Goods!  I bought these dishes 2 weeks ago!

Thank you very much! The one thing I should have done was dim the lights, lit candles, and took the photos with the LED skull and candlestick lights on! Those photos would have been great to have! Guess I’ll save that for next time!
