Dog Snickerdoodles
These treats are Jake And Maggie approved and I honestly think these are their favorites out of all the treats I have made them. You have asked me to make more dog and cat recipes and I’ve heard you. Keep a look out for treat recipes on “Friday Treats Friday”.
This recipe called for oat flour but I used wheat flour which is doggie safe. The recipe called for 1/2 cup of water but I used 1 cup as I found the ingredients to be a bit dry. I also sprinkled more cinnamon on top of the cookies to give them color and more flavor. This recipe also called for rolling the dough into balls and then flattening them but I chose to use my cookie cutters for a festive look.
These would make great stocking stuffers, party gifts, thank you gifts at your pup’s birthday party, or set at each place setting for your pet loving guests to take home to their fur baby. The dollar store has some great holiday bags and ribbon. This recipe calls for minimal ingredients and made 60 gingerbread men and candy canes for me. Add these to a pet basket as a gift with the recipe hand written on a recipe card. Punch a hole in the card and tie it with a ribbon to the bag of treats for a holiday look.
Every year at this time, I make a pit stop at The Dollar General and Walmart to stock up on leashes, collars, bowls, bandanas, and toys for the cats and dogs at our local animal shelter. I’ll be making these treats and bagging them up to take with me. Walmart has blankets in the middle isle near the holiday decor that are $5.00 a blanket and The Dollar General has a great pet section if you are looking to donate to a shelter. I always say a prayer that my little donation (Christmas bag is ready to go) helps a dog or cat get adopted.
