The Dimpled Bean, Fighting Canine Cancer One Cup At A Time

May 18, 2026 | Charity, Pets, Products

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  It’s been a few weeks since my last post, and I’m sorry about that.  We have been working on a big project, and now I can finally share it with you…The Dimpled Bean, Fighting Canine Cancer One Cup At A Time.

When Jake passed away from Hemangiosarcoma (HSA), one of the most common and devastating cancers in dogs.  Characterized by fragile tumors that grow rapidly and are prone to sudden rupture, life-threatening internal bleeding, yet we really don’t know much about it.  Although I have now had two dogs pass away from this cancer, I have only begun hearing about this type of cancer from other pet owners who have experienced what we did with Jake.  I wanted to do something to keep his memory alive and to raise money for canine cancer awareness, especially HSA.

So we created a small business called The Dimpled Bean, collaborated with Puppy Paws Coffee and Tea Company, and created “Jake’s Coffee”, a Colombian French Roast coffee in whole bean and ground.  Jake’s Coffee will be sold on The Dimpled Bean store and on Puppy Paws Coffee store, where you can use the code “Jake” at checkout.

I wanted to make sure that donations went to a place that means a lot to us: The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center.  There are two fund numbers to which money can be donated to raise awareness and support research projects for the Oncology department.

We also have bow ties and sailor bows in a fun coffee bean pattern in sizes M, L, and XL.  My plans are to get more items in our store to help raise money and to eventually get Jake’s Coffee sold in stores.  We are working with Allegheny City Brewing to organize a fundraiser on September 12, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.  Details will follow.

I want to personally thank Thomas for never saying no to my ideas, helping me create our beautiful website (The Dimpled Bean), and for being a great husband and the best dog dad!  I want to thank Tonja and Kellie at Puppy Paws for collaborating with us and creating a delicious coffee, beautiful photos, and marketing for our cause.  It was so fun, and we hope to do more in the future.  I also want to thank Amy at Allegheny City Brewing for allowing us to use their business for our fundraiser.  If you are in the Pittsburgh area, stop by their old and new location for delicious beer and food trucks daily.

And to add to our busy lives, we recently took in and are fostering two dogs, Beau, who is 12, and Chase, who is 15.  If you are looking for a sweet little couch potato or you know of anyone who is, please get in contact with me.  They are the most precious things and just want to be loved.  Maggie is the big sister always watching over them.

I will be posting from Two Adorable Labs once a month now and sending out The Dimpled Bean Newsletter once a month if you would like to subscribe.  We are talking about coffee, coffee products, and coffee recipes, updates, and, of course, the dogs!  Maggie turns 9 years old on June 8th.  We are having a birthday party for her and her friends :-).  Enjoy The Dimpled Bean!  I would love to hear what you think!
I’m Bobbi Jo, a lab-lover who took my passion for animals and dogs and turned it into something bigger.  When I adopted Jake and Maggie, my love for them became the driving force behind Two Adorable Labs, and my blog was born.  My hope is to not only share them with the world, but to help educate others on the importance of animal health and well-being.

Two Adorable Labs has become a collection of all that I love.  I’ll send one post each week on things that bring me joy on animal health, home decor, and food recipes for humans and our furry friends.  I hope you enjoy these posts and much as I do creating them!

Beau 12 Years Old

Loves to go for a walk, independent and curious, but wants to be near you, has a spunky personality, loves boiled chicken, not afraid of loud noises, good in the car, no health issues, good with other dogs, seems to prefer women, takes some time to warm up to men

Chase 15 Years Old

Not afraid of loud noises, good with other dogs, cuddle bug, good in the car, has some minor health issues, has allergies and thyroid issues, currently on medication to regulate and get rid of an ear infection, total sweetheart, favorite place to be is next to you on the couch

I love hearing from all of you and do my best to respond to each and every one of you.  I always enjoy your comments, feedback, and suggestions so keep them coming!  If I’ve posted a recipe (for our human and our furry friends) and you try it, don’t forget to tag me on Instagram @twoadorablelabs and use #twoadorablelabs.

If you do try and love my recipes, I would greatly appreciate a comment and rating.  I read every single one and respond to them.  It also lets Google know that the website contains quality content.  The more comments and 5-star ratings, the more Google will show my blog in search results!  Thank you so much!
