Pets and Domestic Violence
In relation to my last post on animal abuse, I wanted to talk about another form of abuse that we don’t normally think about, and that is a pet kept in a harmful environment such as a domestic violence home. According to an article I found at www.purina.com, the love for a pet compels victims of domestic violence to stay in unsafe situations. Leaving a pet behind in a harmful environment can be emotionally devastating, so up to 48% of people in abusive relationships will stay rather than seek...
Help Stop Animal Cruelty
I recently heard about a conversation that played out between a local grocery store employee and a local customer which prompted me to write this blog. I live in West Virginia and temperatures have gone below freezing over the last couple of weeks. We have gotten more snow than what we wanted or expected. The employee proceeded to say that she had been turned in by her neighbors for keeping her dogs outside in this weather. She could not understand this and felt that her dogs were ok to be...
Safe Paw Ice Melter
This is a re-post with updated links and affiliate links. I may have posted this twice before but I honestly love this product. I swear by it and have been using it for a few years now. It melts the snow and ice immediately which is great but what is even better is that it is pet safe! It's been nice here in West Virginia but I'm ready for the snow. I've got my Safe Paw Ice Melter ready and waiting! Happy Monday everyone! This is an older post I wrote about an amazing product called...
Weathering The Storm
Thomas and I are weathering the storm of having two Labrador puppies at one time. The pups have learned so much already. It is our responsibility to teach them everything and stay on top of things but at 7 months old, they can easily slip back into “forgetting” what they’ve been taught. Everyone told us that puppies sleep all the time and getting two at once would be easier. I’m here to tell you that, in our case, this has NOT been true! It is only now that they are sleeping alot more with...
Chew Guard Technology (Part 2)
We are four days into the new year and Jake and Maggie have totally demolished all of their new toys. I wanted to wrap each one individually for them for Christmas but we wanted to give the toys to them all at once. It was a blast watching them get so excited and curious about what was under that wrapping paper. We quickly realized, due to all of the excitement, that leaving all their new presents out at once was not a good idea. Sooo, our plan was to space the gift giving out and test a...
Chew Guard Technology
"Homemade Pierogis for Christmas dinner"! New toys for Jake and Maggie! And recipes too! "Holiday Wishes Christmas China" "My Christmas outfit from Walmart"! "Jake and Maggie catching snow balls in our yard". "They love the snow"! "Jake and Maggie enjoying their new presents on Christmas Eve" I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and got everything they wanted. Thomas and I felt blessed to have Jake and Maggie with us and we all enjoyed our first Christmas together. We got the...
Help stop the Yulin Dog Meat Festival
I always try to blog about positive and informative topics but today is not one of them. If you delve further into the Yulin Dog Meat Trade, you will find disgusting and graphic information. I will not include pictures but felt it necessary to help spread the word with the next festival being right around the corner beginning Friday, June 21st and ending Sunday, June 30th. In relation to The Vanderpump Dog Foundation and Rescue blog post I did awhile back, I could NOT talk about Yulin’s Dog...
The Vanderpump Dog Foundation
Happy Holidays to everyone! I’m happy to say that I’m done with shopping, wrapping, and grocery shopping. The tables are set and the tree has been up since December 1st! Thomas and I had a good plan yesterday. We got up early, went for breakfast at Bob Evans and got all of our grocery shopping done before the crowds hit the store! He is always a huge help at the holidays and boy do I appreciate it!!! We spent the afternoon making perogies. We will have those with our ham on Christmas...
