Beaver County Adoptions

Jan 9, 2019 | Charity, Pets

t’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything from the Beaver County Human Society and was happy to see their emails come through this morning!  I had planned on a totally different post (which I will do later) but wanted to share these sweet fur babies with you.  I hate to see them sitting in shelters but happy to help in any way I can to advertise in hopes they will find a forever home.

Thomas and I donated to our charities over the holidays by donating to the animal shelters, gifts for the angel tree at church, and donating to a charity benefit to raise money for a family member who has ovarian cancer.  I want to keep the ball rolling by helping Beaver County Humane Society.  Feel free to contact me or the shelter with any questions.

Callie (in the second picture).  Carlie and Callie have bonded and must go together.
Rabbits can live over ten years, require space and commitment, and can be costly. They are social animals who want your attention and who each have their own personalities. Rabbits are fragile and have delicate spines, so their owner must be educated on proper rabbit handling. Because of this, rabbits do best with adults and older children.

Rabbits need a large cage with a hide shelter, water bottle and food bowl, toys like balls and chew sticks, and a hay rack. They can be litter box trained, which means they also need a litter box. A healthy rabbit’s diet consists of 80% hay with timothy, grass, and oat hays for older rabbits and alfalfa hay for young rabbits. Rabbits also need a large variety of vegetables and greens, a limited amount of rabbit food pellets, and the very occasional sugary treat like carrots or berries.

Rabbits get bored just like the rest of us, and enjoy ripping up newspaper and playing with carboard boxes and toilet paper rolls. Rabbits can be messy and enjoy rearranging their cages exactly how they like it! They need room to roam and exercise outside of their cage each day, but it is very important to rabbit-proof your home areas before letting the rabbit out. They love to chew on wires and destroy paperwork, and should always be supervised.

Hi!  My name is Thurston and I am a loving kitty!  I was living on the streets and suffered an injury to my leg.  I was brought to the shelter and underwent surgery to fix my leg.  I have been living at my foster home so that I can recover and find my forever home.  I love to play with my toys and to be petted.  I love to lay in my bed and make muffins while holding onto my fleece blanket.  I would do best as the only cat in the household.  I am FIV positive.  Won’t you adopt me today?
