Hamburger Treats

Jun 4, 2020 | Pets, Treat Recipes

Happy Friday everyone!!  It’s another edition of “Friday Treats Friday” where I give you a homemade treat for your pup!  Today is all about burgers!  I was turning on the grill to make Thomas a burger and thought why not make Jake and Maggie one.  We can all have lunch together!  Scroll down for the recipe!  I just have to come up with a hot dog doggie recipe now!  Would you guys like that?  Let me know in the comment section.

"We work hard for our dogs so they can have a better life"

This recipe calls for everything healthy for your pup…rice, spinach, beef, and strawberries.  I even threw in a few slices of apple to garnish the plate.  The pups LOVE their honey crisp apples.  You can add cheese but I did not have any American cheese slices and didn’t want to risk upsetting their tummies with extra sharp white cheddar.  I have never given them that before and did not want to chance it.
Another treat option to give your pet (if you do not have the ingredients or want to go to the trouble of making a burger) is to boil your beef, boil a cup of white rice or brown rice, rinse and drain both, and pile high onto a bowl to let them chow down!  This has always been my go to if any of my dogs were not feeling well.  My vet’s recommendation…boil and rinse the beef because the grease can cause stomach upset.
As for giving your pet cheese, there are few cheeses that are good and a few cheeses to watch out for:
Good Cheese:

Young Cheese, Mozzarella, String Cheese, Low Sodium Cheese, Plain,Low-fat Cream Cheese

Bad Cheese:

Blue cheese and ripe moldy cheese, Roquefort, Stilton, and all cheeses mixed with onion, garlic, and chives are toxic to dogs

Ingredients:
Enough ground meat for 2 small hamburger patties (this recipe made 2 burgers but if you have more than 2 dogs, more meat will be required)
Handful of spinach (to garnish and to add to the burger).  This is for your lettuce.
3 slivers of apple (to garnish plate)
1 large strawberry sliced.  This is for your tomato.
1 cup rice (white or brown).  This is for your bread.
Directions:
Make your hamburger patties and cook until well done.  Do not add any seasoning, salt, or pepper.
Boil your rice, rinse, and form into flat patties a bit bigger than the size of your burger.  Chill in the refrigerator until cool.  They will be sticky but able to keep the form.
Layer your burger with rice, meat, spinach, and strawberries.

Enjoy!!!!
