How To Create A Cheese Tray For 8 People

Nov 29, 2019 | Appetizers, Food, Holiday, Maggie Lane Designs

It’s almost 10:00 pm and Thanksgiving is almost over.  We had a great day visiting with my family and my sister’s in-laws.  We had 8 people all enjoying a lot of delicious food full of flavor and variety.  I brought the appetizers which was perfect because I got to use up the packets of dry dip mixes I bought in Sugarcreek, OH.  They had these little dip pots with different dips and chips and I grabbed a few packets for the holidays.  I mixed a bacon and cheese dip with cream cheese, sour cream, and shredded extra sharp cheese complimented with Fritos.  I chose to create more of a meat, cracker and cheese tray with the other dip packet of dried onion and chives!  All I had to do was mix in the cream cheese and sour cream and that was done!
I found these white containers at Home Goods for less than $10.00 a piece on the clearance rack.  At first I thought they might be a tad bit small but they ended up being a perfect size, holding a lot of food for 8 adults.

I created these trays for less than $30.00 and had leftovers to take home.  I chose Smoked Gouda cheese, a trio of Golden Butter, Harvest Wheat, and Classic Water crackers from Pepperidge Farm, salami rounds, Prosciutto and Fritos (Party size of course!).  The dips fit nicely in the appropriate spots and with a bag of Fritos in one, that dish was done.  I then filled the middle of the remaining dish with salami and surrounded that with the variety of crackers, cheese, and Prosciutto.  I broke the Gouda rounds into pie slices giving them an edgy look.  I ripped the Prosciutto slices into two, wrapped the pieces around my finger and sealed them with a decorative toothpick.
These dishes were colorful, delicious, and salty.  Tomorrow, I will be putting them back out to munch on before lunch of homemade French Onion soup!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  We ended a great day by putting up the Christmas tree.  Tomorrow, I’m putting up my new Christmas wreath I just made and will decorate the front porch!
