Kicking Off The 24 Days Before Christmas With My Holiday Table

Nov 30, 2022 | Christmas, Maggie Lane Designs, Tablescapes

Happy Thursday everyone!  This is the first day of “The 24 Days Before Christmas” and I’m kicking it off with a fun “Holiday Table”.  I was originally going to do the 12 Days Of Christmas postings but thought this would be more fun.  I’m so excited to kick it off with this Holiday Table created for adults and children.  I’ve thought of everything for this table…wine glasses and china for the adults, paper plates, napkins, and cups for the kids. I also have plastic utensils which I will put out when my godson and his sister come over.  I’ve added loads of Christmas cheer and color while adding whimsical touches for the kids to enjoy.  If you love Pioneer Woman at Walmart (dishes, paper products, cake stand, dip bowls), Hobby Lobby (floral centerpiece), Home Goods (red wine glasses and snowmen), TJMaxx (gold wine glasses), and Walmart (table runner), then you will love this table.

Her “Holiday Wishes” dinnerware (similar here) at Walmart came out a few years ago and I grabbed up these dishes as soon as I saw them.  Two years later, I added the paper plates and matching napkins to my collection.  I found the red wine glasses, and snowmen at Home Goods and the sugar/crystal covered fruit arrangement at Hobby Lobby for 50% off.  (I saw it again just yesterday so hurry while supplies last). This year I found the Pioneer Woman’s Mazie Bird Table Runner at Walmart and although it’s a shade off from the dishes, I think it works.  Pioneer Woman has new holiday dishes out now at Walmart along with matching accessories.  You can easily match her old pattern with the new and create a lovely table.  These dishes are so versatile in that you can pair almost any color with them.  I think a pop of cobalt blue would look amazing.

This table is really all about having the kids at the table and enjoying a meal together.  I used a solid red tablecloth to absorb and hide any spills and stains and using paper plates, napkins, and cups (from Amazon a few years back) saves on the number of dishes used and cleanup.  The nice thing about this table is that there are enough paper plates and napkins for the adults as well.

I used these dishes in a previous post “How To Create A Casual Holiday Table” where I made suggestions on how to create a fun table for a casual event.  Here are more ideas on color combinations and usage all year around.  I even tried placing the silverware in the bowls instead of on the table for a different look.  Knowing I’m having small children at the table, this can help eliminate their little fingers from grabbing something sharp!

How to incorporate Pioneer Woman’s style and patterns into your table:

1.  You have to love color if you are going to buy her dinnerware and accessories.  If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know I love color!

2.  If you shop Walmart and Walmart.com, it’s pretty much a one stop shop and you can purchase all of what you need for your table.  Mixing and matching her dishes is very easy to do.

3.  The Holiday Wishes pattern is a great theme and color combination.  You might not think it’s very traditional but that’s ok.  Sometimes changing things up is fun.

4.  Using her dishes during the months of January and February is a great way to bring a pop of color into those dreary months.

5.  With this Holiday Wishes pattern, the color combinations are so bright!  As I said earlier, cobalt blue would look fantastic.  Adding navy blue and gold would also look great.

How to incorporate Pioneer Woman’s style and patterns into your table:

6.  What about using these dishes or her other holiday patterns in the spring?  Keep it light by incorporating the mint greens, light yellow, and whites on your table.  Who says you have to use these just for Christmas.

7.  Buy up her paper products and create an entire table with products you can just throw away after dinner.  Easy clean up, less work, and your dishwasher gets a rest 🙂

8.  Add pops of color with her crystal glassware.  She has styles in plastic and glass.

9.  Mix these dishes with solid patterns in a complimenting color scheme.  Hobby Lobby is having their 60% off sale right now and I saw some great dinnerware on sale.

10.  Keep the centerpiece simple.  You don’t have to use three different pieces like I did.  I once put out a sheet cake with colored icing as the centerpiece for my godson’s birthday.  It looked great and was edible at the same time.  Make dessert your centerpiece!
