Our Anniversary Weekend

Happy Monday everyone!  I’m so excited about this week’s posts!  I’m switching things up a bit and moving the Electrical Safety for Animals video to Wednesday so I can talk about our amazing trip to Ohio to celebrate our 12 year anniversary.  I’ve got lunch at the Der Dutchman, shopping at Dutch Valley Gifts, Carlisle Gifts, and Berlin Gift Barn, fashion from Macy’s and Walmart, makeup from Tom Ford and MAC Cosmetics and a delicious dinner at JC Wine Cellars!

I’ve been going to the Amish country since I was in my early 20s.  Thomas and I have taken many trips and two years ago stayed at a secluded Woodbury cabin on 43 acres with the dogs…see post (HERE).  I was fortunate to find this cabin through Airbnb but I’ll be clear…Amish Country is not very dog friendly.  We spent 1 whole day driving from store to store who advertised “Dogs Allowed” to find that that we could NOT bring the dogs into their store.  As a pet influencer, I’m always in search of dog friendly vacations so I can report back to you!  If you are looking for a relaxing weekend in Ohio country, stay at the Woodbury Cabins but there are only a few dining spots that allow dogs in the parking and patio areas like Swisters, East of Chicago Pizza, and Chipolte Mexican Grill.  Check out this website for more information:  Ohio’s Amish Country

Social Distancing

We drove directly to Berlin, OH and spent the majority of the morning at the Berlin Gift Barn and adjoining shops, drinking specialty coffee and enjoying the patio views!  Berlin is one of my most favorite spots!  And incase you are in need of a very large wrench, check out the one we found at Leimen’s Market!  I think this store has everything you would ever need for your home!  Thomas is wearing a new shirt from Walmart and can you believe it was only $9.95!!  What a steal!

We stopped in Sugarcreek, OH and had lunch at the Der Dutchman.  Thomas had their broiled crispy chicken and I had their special the Manhattan; 1/2 hot turkey sandwich with mash potatoes and gravy.  I think I have been getting this same special since I first came to Sugarcreek back in my 20s!  LOL!  The waitress brought us two slices of homemade peach pie for our anniversary.  I chose ice cream on mine and the peaches were incredibly fresh and yummy!  We stopped at Dutch Valley Gifts and bought jams and jellies at the new Amish grocery store.  We stopped back at the Der Dutchman and bought cream sticks at their bakery.  I am very serious when I say they are as long as a license plate!  They are so good that I devoured it before remembering I needed to take a picture for you all!  Let me just say this was definitely our cheat day!  We allowed ourselves to enjoy all that Amish Country has to offer which includes the food :-). We had plans to stop at Breitenbach Winery but ran out of time!

Thomas ordered the salmon and I had the Bacci Formaggio (handmade back (pasta “kisses”) filled with imported cheeses served with fresh tomato basil cream sauce, the sauce is their house favorite!  This dinner was so delicious and we will definitely be going back.  When Thomas and I got married 12 years ago, we took everyone to JC Wine Cellars for dinner and have been coming to this restaurant ever since!  My birthday is August 18th and we plan to celebrate it here!  Our waitress, Michelle, was the sweetest!  The food is delicious, the service friendly, and they sat us at the “Tree” table with was so romantic.
