Spinach Cheese Spoons Dog Treats
Happy Friday everyone! We are back to having “Friday Treats Friday” again. As I was putting these two simple ingredients together, the spinach leaves looked like little spoons to me with cheese on them so hence the name; Spinach Cheese Spoons :-).
I have to admit that my kitchen cabinets and refrigerator are a little bare right now but Jake and Maggie’s treat containers are packed full from all of the treats they got over the holidays. This is why making homemade treats was put on the back burner. I kept it simple over the last month but will slowly work my way back into creating delicious and healthy treats for you all! And, as I always say, if you have any suggestions, ideas, or questions, please don’t hesitate to send them my way. Email me or comment below!!
Speaking of treats…over the holiday break, I came across a small business called Ava’s Pet Palace started by a sweet girl named Ava when she was only 8 years old. She is now 13 and is growing her little doggie and cat treat empire selling organic homemade treats along with dog and cat merchandise. I bought her dog treats and Jake and Maggie loved them. Being a small business myself, I’m seeing how important it is to support other small businesses and to help others when I can. Check Ava out at www.avaspetpalace.com and give her shout on Instagram @avaspetpalace. Tell her Bobbi Jo from Two Adorable Labs sent you!
So let’s get started! This one is so easy that adding a recipe card like I normally do seemed like overkill. I bought a pack of baby spinach and a bag of shredded low-fat mozzarella cheese. I used our pizza stone, spread out the baby spinach, added the cheese on top of the spinach, baked at 350 degrees for 18 minutes or until crispy (depending on your oven) let cool and served!
I was initially going to do cheese crisps and make them into more of a crispy cracker but wanted some color so I chose to use spinach. I did not measure anything and chose to use a bit more cheese than maybe you would want to use for your dog. I did not use any oil or seasoning of any kind nor was the pizza stone seasoned. These can be refrigerated for up to 3 days in an air tight container. The cheese will look a little oily when they come out of the oven. They will dry crispy so no worries but be careful not to use a ton of cheese as this will cause them to be flexible instead of crispy.
