Banana Strawberry Heart And Bark Dog Treats

Feb 11, 2025 | Pets, Products, Treat Recipes

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  I’m excited to talk about these Banana Strawberry Heart And Bark Dog Treats!  What a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your pet than to use Ava’s Pet Palace Love Bowl – SlowMo slow feeder and lick mat in the color Rosy Rover.  It even comes with a matching spatula!  I ordered two…one for Jake and one for Maggie :-). Does anyone know why I chose this color???  If you do, send me a comment below and let me know!  I’ll let you know if you are right :-).

I found this recipe on Must Love Home but made some slight changes.  She used oat flour, and I used Quaker oats.  I also sprayed my heart-shaped molds for the hearts and glass baking dish for the bark with Coconut Oil Spray.  I added Ava’s Pet Palace Gone Bananas dog treats, strawberries, and slices of bananas.

I like how Must Love Home gave us some substitutions for making these treats:

SUBSTITUTIONS FOR EGGS IN THE RECIPE

If your pup is allergic to eggs, some substitutes work nicely in this recipe. The eggs help the treats brown while baking, so they might look pale when done.

*Applesauce – 1/4 cup per egg
*Pumpkin Puree – 1/4 cup per egg
*Nut Butter – 3 tablespoons per egg
*More mashed Banana – 1/4 cup per egg

Filling the slow feeder and lick mat

I broke up the bark into pieces and alternated between placing the bark, Ava’s treats, and dog food into the slow feeder.  The dogs loved it.  It took a good bit of time for them to finish their snack.  It works perfectly for Maggie because she normally eats very fast.  This is a great product if you’ve got a pup who eats fast and doesn’t take the time to really enjoy their food.

Since last week’s blog was very long, I’ll keep this one short today with lots of fun photos!  Jake and Maggie were anxiously awaiting these treats while they baked in the oven, then I had to take photos, and then finally, they were able to try them.  They are definitely Two Adorable Labs Approved!

The recipe is simple and quick to make.  Add oats, smashed bananas, and eggs to a bowl and mix well.  Use a form or baking dish, spray with Coconut Oil, fill the molds, and bake!  Serve at room temperature.  I put the leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and will keep them for a few days.  I normally don’t keep homemade treats like this for longer than four days.
