Ooey Gooey Sugar Cookie Stack

This is a re-post with more links and baking tidbits added for your benefit.  In this recipe I used caramel and chocolate as my toppings.  I suggested whip cream and ice cream but what about fruit toppings like strawberries.  Slice strawberries and mash with a fork enough to make 1 cup.  Add a teaspoon of sugar and combine until granules disappear.  Bananas would be a fun addition as well.  Cut 1-2 bananas into pieces and coat with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of honey and 1/2 teaspoon of maple syrup.  How delicious does this all sound????!!!!!!  Yummmm!

I didn’t have any whipped cream but this would be even more amazing with homemade whipped cream or loaded up with vanilla ice cream. Serve up these cookies warm and stacked high, drizzle your favorite toppings and you have one delicious sugar cookie stack!

There are two ways you can make this recipe. I have done both. One is using the Original Nestle Chocolate Chip recipe (below) but leave out the chocolate chips and the other is the sugar cookie recipe I put in the recipe card at the bottom of this post. Another fun and delicious idea would be to make ice cream sandwiches out of these cookies.  Add your favorite ice cream between two cookies and you have created another recipe to use!  Either way, you can’t go wrong.

Nestle Tollhouse Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Step 1
Preheat oven to 375° F.

Step 2
Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

Step 3
Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Ingredients
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups (12-ounce package) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
1 cup chopped nuts (Optional. If omitting, add 1 to 2 Tbsp. of all-purpose flour.)

How I get my cookies to set perfect:  Before I add the eggs, I whip them in a separate bowl and then pour them into my wet ingredients.  Halfway through baking, I give the baking sheet a little shake to make sure the middle of the cookies are evening out and baking properly. 

Another little tidbit for perfect cookies:  I add two teaspoons of vanilla instead of one.  I also leave the walnuts whole instead of chopping them.

Ooey Gooey Sugar Cookie Stack

A stack full of sugary, goey sweetness with loads of chocolate and caramel syrup dripping off all sides!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup salted butter
  • 1 cup Crisco shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup walnuts, halved or pieces but not chopped fine
  • chocolate syrup
  • caramel syrup
  • course sea salt

Instructions

  • Cream together butter, sugar, and shortening
  • Add flour, eggs, baking soda, cream of tartar, vanilla
  • Mix well and refrigerate for 1 hour
  • Spray baking sheet with PAM cooking spray. Using a large spoon, spoon out dough and lay on pan. Pat dough down in the middle so they cook even.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 8 – 10 minutes

Notes

When cookies are done, layer on your favorite dish and drizzle with your favorite syrup(s) and sprinkle with sea salt.  Cookies will be warm and gooey.  I used dark chocolate and caramel together this time.
I always take my cookies out when the middle is "almost" done.  
You can also add strawberries, ice cream, or whipped cream or all of the above!!

      Thank you! You can also add a sugary icing to the middle if you don’t have ice cream. Something like a double doozie cookie from the Cookie Company! Just another idea :-).
