Airport Therapy Dog Programs
It’s been a minute since I posted about Jake and Maggie passing their Canine Good Citizenship training (here and here) all because I wanted them to participate in the PitPaws program at the Pittsburgh International Airport. I want them both to become Therapy Dogs and am excited about taking them into schools to meet with children as well as volunteering at other establishments. When I called...
20 Ways to photograph a black dog
I can't tell you how many pictures I've taken of Maggie only to delete them because they didn't turn out right. I don't have a problem with Jake. He is very photogenic and takes better pictures and quite possibly because he is chocolate and not solid black. I am still learning my way around my new camera but I've done some research to help me with taking better pictures of sweet Maggie Rose....

Adopt a shelter dog today!
Hello! My name is Lumley! I am an extra, super, duper special pup. The staff here have become my family; they love me, they protect me, and they give me hope. I am dashingly handsome, but sometimes that's all anyone sees: my looks. They don't know that I have a lot of needs, some of them different than other dogs'. I love to be active, but I could easily be a couch potato too. I am head over...
Pig Ears and Salmonella Poisoning
I follow a blog called Proud Dog Mom and recently received a post about Pig Ear Dog Treats Making Humans Sick. The FDA is investigating and urging all pet owners to stop buying and feeding their pets the pig ears and urging retailers to stop selling them. The CDC is now reporting 127 cases of human infection with Salmonella — 26 people have been hospitalized. Of the illnesses, 24 (that’s 21%)...
Horse Ownership
I typically blog about dog related topics but today I want to give you some insight into the equestrian world. One of my fondest memories from my childhood was when my parents bought me my first horse. We found Sparky and so my love for horses began. My father built a barn and fenced in acreage to adopt Sparky and a horse for my sister named Shamrock. We later started working on a farm and...
Blueberry, Blackberry, Veggie Freezies
It's been awhile since I posted a dog treat recipe. I know I promised you more of those so here is a Blueberry, Blackberry, Veggie Freezie recipe that I found on-line and modified to what I thought Jake and Maggie would like. I also apologize for missing a post today. I had one ready to go and then decided not to send it because...well...it was terrible. LOL! It's one of those things that...
Grounds and Hounds Coffee
I am so excited to share this post with you!! My sister sent me a link one night to a company called Grounds and Hounds Coffee. The title was interesting but I fell in love with the story not to mention the coffee is delicious. At Grounds and Hounds Coffee Co, they believe that great coffee can fuel a greater purpose. Through the sale of their fair trade and organic, specialty coffees, they...
The Grommet
I was scouring Pinterest like I do every night and came across a "pin" showing all of these neat gadgets for pets. I clicked on it and it took me to a website called The Grommet. You can find everything on their site from children's clothes to home goods to tech gadgets. Did you know they even have a "fish burial pod"?????? I have never seen such a thing until I watched an episode of...
