A Whimsical Valentine’s Day Table

Jan 31, 2021 | Maggie Lane Designs, Tablescapes, Valentine's Day

This is a re-post from last year.  Galentine’s Day and Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and before I show off my new VDay table for this year, I wanted to remind you about this one.  You know…just incase you forgot and needed some inspiration!  This table is all about combining color and different shapes, patterns, and reasonably priced table decor 🙂

Happy Monday everyone!  It is February 1st and I’m kicking the month off with this whimsical Valentine’s Day table.  This table is casual, fun, and flirty with a combination of red, black, turquoise, with a hint of pink.  I’m so excited for this month of blog posts.  February is the month of RED my favorite color.  I have another tablescape that I’ll be posting for a “Galentine’s Day” event I’m hosting on February 8th for my girlfriends, several food blog posts, and of course pet health posts with Jake and Maggie!  If you would like to see previous Valentine’s Day posts with Jake and Maggie’s pictures, check out “How To Celebrate Your Dog On Valentine’s Day”

The crystal candle holders were a gift from my sister she bought from Macy’s.  The middle candle is a battery operated timer.  The votive candles are wax.  Another option would be to stagger votives down the middle of the table while intertwining your greenery.  Keeping it simple is always elegant.

Greenery is from Walmart.com
Dinnerware is from Kirklands.com
Placemats are from Home Goods
Dishcloths are from Home Goods
Glass heart shaped dishes are from Home Goods
Tea cups are from TJMaxx (If only I could have found the whole set with the tea pot.  Would that have been so cute!!!!!!)
I also had solid red wine glasses that I bought from Dollar General that I chose not to put out.  I liked how the table looked and thought the wine glassed took away from the look I was going for.
Heart cutouts are from Dollar Genereal
Bowls are from TJMaxx.  They are more for dipping sauces than soup bowls.

I wanted to create a “doggie themed” tablescape this year but was having a hard time finding paw/animal print dishes.  Would you know that I found everything LAST YEAR and did not buy any of it when I saw it at Home Goods.  Lesson learned!  But when I came across these dish towels, I knew they were going in my cart!  It was meant to be because it all came together!  These would even make a great gift for any pet lover!  I could totally see a beautiful basket, these towels, hand soaps, doggie treats, a bag of pasta, olive oil, and a jar of marinara sauce tied up in a paw printed bow and you’ve got yourself a beautiful gift!!!  Or maybe these dish towels with a Two Adorable Labs candle set all wrapped up in a pretty bow!  Just a thought :-).

If you are looking for odds and ends to add to your tablescape, check out Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Big Lots, and Gabriel Brothers. These stores have unique and cost effective items and ideas for your table decor.  These little hearts added the last touch to my table.  I thought about putting down a tablecloth but decide to keep just my off cream table and put down my placemats.  I’m glad I did.  I bought a pack of these red and pink foam hearts at the Dollar General for a $1.00 and I think they look so cute.  They are easy to clean up and store for next year if I decide to use them.  Buy a glass jar or store in a sandwich bag and you are good to go!

I love hearing from all of you and do my best to respond to each and every one of you.  I always enjoy your comments, feedback, and suggestions so keep them coming!  If I’ve posted a recipe (for our human and our furry friends) and you try it, don’t forget to tag me on Instagram @twoadorablelabs and use #twoadorablelabsInstagram.

I had absolutely no idea what I was doing with this table. I just started pulling out dishes, candles, and greenery, washing plates and it all came together. Ta da (hand emoji’s) :-).
