Casual Tablescape

May 9, 2021 | Easter, Maggie Lane Designs, Tablescapes

Happy Monday everyone!  I’ve been wanting to post my casual tablescape for a while now.  I’m one of those people who love seeing my table put together as if we are having company over for dinner.  My kitchen table is a combination of items that I have purchased in my travels from West Virginia to Missouri and back.  I like the layers, height, and combinations of similar natural colors while combining my love for decorating my kitchen with roosters.

One of the things I love the most is how the sun shines through the windows over the table.  I purchased this oval table from The House of Ferguson along with 3 bar stool chairs at our counter.  I recently came up with the idea of removing this table and replacing it with a square French country style custom cabinet with drawers as the base and a granite counter top to match our granite we have in the kitchen.  This will provide more storage, working space, but still allow for seating for four with under counter stools.  This is popular in new builds.

Mr. TAL and I are looking for a vacation/retirement home and I’ve been scouring Realtor.com and different home building websites for either a home to remodel or a new build.  We haven’t made up our minds yet but we have targeted some cities which we will be traveling to over the next year or so.  Our first to visit is Charlotte in two weeks and I’m so excited!!  We are going to see friends but will take some time to site see!  We agreed that we don’t need a dining room but will definitely have a table off the kitchen to decorate 🙂

I found the following items at all different stores and combined the new with antique dishes and a table runner doily.

Cake dish – Home Goods
Rooster/Chicken – Home Goods
Tray – Home Goods
Bamboo flower dishes – Home Goods
Fruit and chicken dishes – Missouri Antique Mall
Candle/floral centerpiece – Kirklands
Napkins and flower napkin ring – Pier 1
Charger plates – Home Goods
Placemats – Pier 1

I consider this a casual table but I know there are decorators out there who would disagree with me.  There are also people who would say that moving everything off the table every day would be a pain.  You could always keep it more simple by just adding something in the middle like lantern(s), a bowl of fruit, a wooden bread bowl with greenery, etc.  Maybe you like your cookbooks sitting out…stack them in the middle from large to small with stacked candles and a green topiary and you have created a centerpiece!  If you are stumped at what to do, check out Pinterest for more ideas.  Pinterest is incredibly visual stimulating plus they allow you to create boards to store what you like for future reference.  I’ve recently become a fan of Etsy and created a storefront called TwoAdorableLabs!  I have my candles listed and will be adding more items very soon.  Etsy has some incredibly talented people creating and designing custom products for whatever you are looking for.

Thank you!!! This table was so fun to put together. I didn’t have room to put 4 placemats but that’s ok. There are only 2 of us in the house :-).
