Giving Table For Two

Nov 23, 2021 | Maggie Lane Designs, Tablescapes, Thanksgiving

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Today’s post is all about setting an elegant but simple table with this “Giving Table For Two”.  Who would think these spotted cream and black dishes from Walmart by Thyme and Table would pair well with dusty blue from Pottery Barn but they do!  You might not have these exact dishes but don’t be afraid to mix and match what you do have!  Have fun creating a color combination no one would think of.
If you have decided to keep things small this year for Thanksgiving, this table setting is perfect for a nice quiet dinner for one or two.  It took me no time at all to put it together plus you don’t have to worry about several dishes to pick up, clean, and put away.  What better way to show off your dessert than with this table!  I bought this glass cake stand with lid years ago at Walmart and have used it many times.

I normally create tables that have 3 or more colors and today is all about simple, yet elegant, mixing and matching colors and patterns.  I picked up on the gold in the Thyme and Table dishes by using these “buck” martini glasses from TJMaxx, wine glasses from Home Goods and odds and ends I’ve picked up over the years.

The napkins, placemats, and napkin ring holders came from Pier 1 years ago.  I used two different kinds of napkins and layered them together. I love sitting at a table that has plenty of napkins and dishes for appetizers, cookies, and cakes.  I created an accessible but simple centerpiece containing cake dish for holding muffins or cakes and a two tier plate holder.

Mr. TAL is taking vacation this week and I set this for us to have tonight’s dinner.  This table can be set for more or less depending on how many place settings you bought but tonight is all about the two of us.  We are having baked tilapia and oven baked veggies and this table is perfect.  Sometimes we can get lazy and just grab paper plates or our every day plates but changing things up can be fun.  Use your creativity and make it a theme!  I combined animal print dishes with deer martini glasses and it works 🙂
