Banana Foster

Jun 20, 2023 | Food, Sweets

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Are you in the mood for something deliciously sweet?  This banana foster is the perfect topping for a French Vanilla ice cream sundae.  Bananas coated in a rich, buttery, syrupy sweet mixture is the perfect topping for sundaes and French toast or pancakes.

This recipe is very, very easy to make.  I melted butter, brown sugar, vanilla, and International Delight Sweet Creamer in a cast iron skillet on medium heat.  As the mixture started to boil, I added my sliced bananas, gave them a few stirs and it was done!  I think the secret ingredient here is the creamer.  It helps to add an extra bit of sweetness and gives the banana foster a thinner consistency.

I hosted Mother’s Day this year at our house and set up a sundae bar as one of our desserts.  Each of us made our own sunder and I chose to make more of a banana split in a bowl.  I had three different kinds of ice cream and many different toppings.  Mine was a French Vanilla ice cream ball topped with chocolate, banana foster, a very large strawberry and whipped cream!  Yummm!

If you are looking for another quick topping, cut up strawberries into pieces and cook on medium heat with some sugar, vanilla, and water.  Let the strawberries come to a boil then remove from heat.  Serve cold.  I used a small pack of strawberries, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1 tablespoon of vanilla and 1 cup of water.

This banana foster recipe was a hit.  Everyone loved it and told me to put it on the blog.  I bought these beautiful glass dessert bowls at Amazon and was so excited to use them.  They came in a set of 6 and are perfect for any dessert or occasion.  I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we did!
