Happy Friday everyone! Today, we are talking about Busy Blankets!  Every so often, I post about pet products I’ve tried and loved.  The Busy Blanket by The Peppy Pup turns playtime into a scent-seeking mission that keeps your pup busy up to five times longer than other snuffle mats.
 
When Sheena Larson, owner of The Peppy Pup, (Instagram @thepeppypup1) contacted me about collaborating, I was excited to try her product. Jake and Maggie have used snuffle mats before, but this seemed to stimulate their minds and curiosity more. I noticed they could not find the treats as easily, so I spoke to Sheena about this. Some dogs have more of a learning curve, and she gave me some tips to help them utilize the blanket better.

Here are a few tips to help:
  • Use favorite treats—they increase motivation to hunt for food. Break them into tiny pea-size pieces to avoid overfeeding.
  • Easy wins first—place treats at pocket openings where they’re easy to spot. Encourage, guide, and praise your dog when they nab a treat.
  • Take it up a notch—move treats an inch or two into the pockets. Keep encouraging, guiding, and praising every time they find a treat.
  • Go pro—once they know how to crack open the pockets, you can hang the blanket by the loop and tuck 1-2 treats per pocket. Then lay it on the floor and let your dog’s foraging fun begin.
  • IMPORTANT: Sniffing works up a thirst, so keep fresh water handy.

Christmas will be here before you know it!  Put this Busy Blanket on your fur babies list!  Jake and Maggie very much enjoyed their playtime with the Busy Blanket.  I chose a beautiful fall day, temperatures in the 60s put the blanket outside on our patio, and let them find some high-quality training treats from Old Mother Hubbard I bought from Chewy.com.  This is also a perfect game to play indoors on a rainy day :-).

Jake and Maggie get inflammation in their ears every so often.  When I see they are getting inflamed, I use these wipes to clean out their ears, which are like gloves that fit over the finger.  Then flush the ear canal out with Mal-A-Ket Plus, a TrizEDTA Flush Formulated for dogs and cats.  It is Antimicrobial, antifungal, and antibiofilm that I get from our vet.  It helps to prevent ear infections, rounds of antibiotics, and trips to the vet for Jake and Maggie!

I found out about this product on Instagram and had to try it.  The Rescue Retriever was invented by a fireman to help first responders find pets during house fires.  I have stickers on all my doors that tell how many pets are in the house and their names, but this is great because it lights up and flashes at the first detection of smoke.  It comes with an adhesive pad, and you can put it in whatever room your pets stay in the most.  It also comes with a large, reflective sticker with a large paw print to put on your door.

I can’t believe Thanksgiving is next week!  We are wishing all of you a wonderful holiday.  I hope that you have made some fun plans and are spending time with family and friends, eating delicious food, and getting some time to relax and enjoy the holiday!  My sister is cooking this year and I can’t wait to have some of her turkey.  Her Thanksgiving dinner is always so delicious.
