Happy Wednesday everyone!  I’ve been thinking of what to get the dogs for Christmas this year and it’s been decided!  Jake and Maggie are getting new doggie beds!  Of course they will be getting new toys and treats and this got me thinking about all you pet lovers out there!  Do you buy pet gifts for others who have pets?  Do you make homemade gifts?  Have you supported small pet businesses this year?  Today on this blog post is a very easy DIY doggie gift packed full of healthy treats in a reusable container, and 21 ideas for pet lovers!

In the Domitrovich household, we love Chewy.com!  Chewy is convenient in so many ways from scheduling a revolving order to free shipping over $50.  Orders are placed and your shipment arrives in two days.  They offer many healthy snacks including these Dental Chews by Get Naked which come in many flavors.  I’ve chosen Weight Management, Antioxidants, and Joint Health for this gift based on what my friend’s dog requires.  I found this adorable glass treat container at Home Goods and the perfect gift was created.  I tied it with a handmade bow and I was done.  This container took 9 1/2 bags of dental chew treats.

Here are a few ideas for gift giving at Christmas for you pet lovers!

1.  Buy a treat container like I did, fill it with treats, and decorate the outside of it using decorative tags and a treat scoop
2.  Create your own handmade treat and write up the recipe on a decorative card.  Wrap in a beautiful box and address to the dog’s name
3.  Buy a subscription box from a pet bakery or pet business so that your gift keeps giving all year long
4.  Fill a basket for your loved one and include their pets gifts to make it more special
5.  Buy a $10.00 gift card for each month of the year at a local pet store
6.  Offer to babysit for an hour or a day
7.  If money is not an object, book a vacation for that special friend or family member at a pet friendly resort so they can take their fur baby with them all expenses paid by you
8.  Instead of giving a gift, make a monetary donation in their name to an animal shelter or charity
9.  Consider purchasing from Barkbox.com
10.  Purchase a gift with the pets name engraved on it.  Consider looking at www.personalizationmall.com for fun gifts to give
11.  Check out https://puppypaws.shop for subscription boxes that include fun pet gifts and their delicious coffee
12.  Gift pet clothing, bow ties, bandanas from https://www.pamperedpooches.co
13.  Create a Christmas tree just for a pet with personalized and specialty selected ornaments
14.  If you know of someone who is looking at training or boarding, gift a gift card to that facility for when they are reading to schedule their sessions
15.  Give a gift card to a pet groomer of their choice
16.  Purchase a subscription to a pet magazine
17.  Check out www.etsy.com for custom made pet gifts
18.  Setup your donations through Amazon by logging into www.smileamazon.com and choosing either a charity already submitted or add one of your own.  A percentage of your purchases will go to that charity.  Amazon keeps track and sends you a statement via email.
19.  Call an animal shelter and pay for a monthly adoption fee for 1 dog/cat or more in your friend’s name.
20.  Spend a day with your friend working at an animal shelter and learning about the animals instead of a gift.
21.  Show your child that instead of giving and receiving gifts, you give the gift of time and love to a charity or shelter in need

Last year, I posted every day in the month of December with many great ideas for gift giving, for pets, pet lovers, recipes, holiday tablescapes, and home decor!  Check out a few of my older posts here.  Stay tuned, I’ll be posting more of this throughout the month!
And before I go, I want to let you know that today is National Mutt Day (December 2nd)!  Let’s celebrate, foster, adopt, and pray for all the shelter mutts and be thankful for all those mixed mutts who are living the good life in their forever homes!  I know my Bear and Bella had a good life and are watching over me now.  Read my post “Why Foster A Dog?” (HERE)
