Animal Finders of Beaver County PA
I reached out to the Beaver County Humane Society last week and in my conversations with them and animal control, I was put in contact with a Dusty Popovich of Animal Finders of Beaver County PA. If you have a missing pet or know of someone who has lost their beloved fur baby, this is the organization to call. What an amazing group of dedicated individuals who are helping to save lives. Animal...
Do Not Adopt Blacklist
I’ve been trying to keep my blog posts positive and upbeat during this stressful and unknown time in our lives dealing with the Coronavirus but I’m haunted by something that has led me to this point. I made some phone calls last week and think it is important to blog about. Have you ever been haunted by something that you could do nothing about and had no control over. You tried your best to...
Can Dogs Get Pimples?
Did you know that dogs can get acne just as people do? Have you ever seen a dog with white and red pimples around their mouth? When I adopted my old dog Bear years ago from the shelter, he was around 1 year old and I noticed tiny bumps around his mouth with some missing hair. I panicked thinking it was a bacterial infection and rushed to the vet only to find out they were pimples!! What...
Can You Claim Your Dog On Your Taxes?
This is a re-post from March 2020 but since tax season is upon us, I thought I'd share incase some of you missed it. This post might be a little late for some of you, but I thought about it today and did some research. Can you claim your dog on your taxes? I have always been told “no" but wondered…are there any loop holes?? Now that Jake and Maggie are certified therapy dogs, I wondered if...
Very Very Veggie Easter Treat
This is a repost: I've been spending a lot of time volunteering at the shelter, and I realized this morning that I hadn't posted for you today. The days have been flying by me! I promise to send out a new post this week, either Thursday or Friday. I have a new tablescape and new doggie easter posts for you. I made these treats for the dogs, and looking back at these photos, they made me...
What Is Biofilm?
Have you ever picked up your dog’s water bowl and dishes and felt a slimy substance on your fingertips? That is called Biofilm. A Biofilm forms when certain microorganisms (for example, some types of bacteria) adhere to the surface of some object in a moist environment and begin to reproduce. The microorganisms form an attachment to the surface of the object by secreting a slimy, glue-like...
Do Dogs Understand Personal Space?
Do dogs really understand the meaning of personal space? I don't think Jake and Maggie do. I’m sure we are all sick of talking and thinking about the Coronavirus. I know Jake and Maggie are! Every activity I think of involves being around places and people so we have begun a new routine of walking our property line, and a new routine of walking around our neighborhood. We got our walk in...
Whipped Egg Broccoli Spinach Treats
This is a re-post. I made these for St. Patrick's Day but I think they would be perfect for Easter! These daisy shaped molds would look perfect as an Easter doggie treat! While you are cooking breakfast, brunch, or dinner, you can whip these up to be served at the same time you are eating. You and your pup can enjoy the holiday together 🙂 Happy early St. Patrick’s Day everyone!! Who...
Should Dogs Be Allowed In Grocery Stores? Part 2
Are you dying to know what the majority vote is on whether dogs should be allowed in grocery stores? See my post from Wednesday HERE. I promised I would reveal the answer and weigh in on my thoughts as well. Jake and Maggie loved their mini photo shoot this week. The weather was beautiful for taking these pictures. But let me tell you all how hard it is to keep two dogs focused while...
Should Dogs Be Allowed In Grocery Stores?
I was in our local JoAnn Fabrics Store the other day and noticed the “Pets Allowed” sign on the door as I was checking out. I expressed my excitement to the cashier but noticed the side eye from the lady next to me. My next stop was Krogers where I saw a couple walking a small dog with a vest that said…”Service Dog Do Not Pet”. The first thing I wanted to do was pet the dog but I had to...
